What we do:

The Rotor Design Engineer designs rotor and controls components, assemblies, and systems. This position will work closely with Flight Technology, Airframe, Assembly & Integration, Vehicle Management System, Flight Controls, and System Safety teams to design rotor blades, hubs, and controls to ensure the systems are reliably crafted and provide a safe and efficient means to propel our aircraft. This position works closely with Dynamicists and Stress and Fatigue Analysts as well as other team members within the engineering department.

What you can do:

  • Engage and collaborate with Aerodynamicists, Acousticians, Dynamicists and Stress and Fatigue Analysts
  • Create technical specifications, design components, and assemblies in CATIA V6, build 2D drawings with appropriate GD&T, and release those drawings in the PLM system
  • Responsible for the component/assembly lifecycle from conceptual design through buildup and test of the prototype air vehicles
  • Support the broader team in the incorporation of rotor systems into the air vehicle in the areas of rotor blade to hub integration, rotor hub to drivetrain integration, and integration of instrumentation
  • Provide technical guidance to the suppliers of any rotor system assembly components
  • Collaborate with the Assembly and Integration Team to provide prototype parts to support system-level testing and engineering builds
  • Work collaboratively with the Test and Evaluation team to plan, support, and conduct tests as required
  • Build and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) reports for systems and components
  • Create Purchase Requisitions and other engineering administrative tasks as required to support prototype build and testing

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in aerospace dynamic systems component/assembly design
  • Prior experience crafting rotating machinery
  • Proficiency with 3D Computer-Aided Design System (CATIA V6, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Auto CAD or equivalent)
  • Proven conceptual design experience, including 3D layouts
  • Proficiency with vehicle and related sub-component product development processes

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Experience working on helicopter and/or tiltrotor rotor systems
  • Experience with developing rotor system test plans
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis
  • Prior background with rotor system tests
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as 3D Experience
  • Prior background knowledge of electric and hybrid powertrain systems

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is:
$144,100—$176,200 USD
