Position Description
The McKesson Data & Digital Innovation team leverages deep expertise in data science, data analytics, and real-world healthcare data to provide innovative, data-driven strategies and insights for customers in the CPG/OTC segments within US Pharma. Our work aids stakeholders and business partners in defining markets, demonstrating value and effectiveness, and informing business decisions throughout product lifecycles.
Specifically for this role, we are seeking a Sr. Data Scientist who can tackle complex business problems using our in-house data sources within a collaborative environment. This role will support healthcare data initiatives by ensuring accurate and timely data preparation, analysis, insights, quality assurance, and ongoing system and process maintenance. The Sr. Data Scientist will be responsible for obtaining and validating raw data, performing analysis, and creating mock-up and production reports and visualizations from available sources. In-depth knowledge of software, documentation, utilities, and program scripts, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is essential.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Synthesize business rules and methodological approach with minimal supervision to address questions posed by internal or external business partners.
- Analyze raw data from multiple sources, such as sales, inventory, and claims data, using algorithms and statistical programming.
- Ensure data sets and reports are built to specifications and format output for customer readiness.
- Facilitate and participate in peer review meetings for each deliverable.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Leverage data visualization and interactive dashboards to communicate insights effectively and help stakeholders make informed decisions using McKesson data products.
- Interact with business partners to assess needs and review results.
- Proactively communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- Translate findings from reports into implications or recommendations for business decisions.
- Formulate and implement effective data strategies and identify areas for significant efficiency gains through automation.
- Provide quality assurance on all assigned reporting and data extracts.
Minimum Requirements:
Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Critical Skills
- 7+ years of work experience in data analysis and/or supporting healthcare information systems.
- 7+ years of programming experience in Python/R.
- Proficient in SQL and other databases such as Databricks, Snowflake, HANA, etc.
- Proficient in data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau.
- Experience in statistical programming, data analysis, visualization, and applying quantitative methods to real-world business problems in the healthcare industry.
- Experience in mining big data, preferably healthcare-related data.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Self-starter, capable of working with limited supervision.
- Demonstrates curiosity and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a continuous desire to learn and develop professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Master's or Ph.D. is preferred.
