Current Need:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior API Security Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in API security and development experience. This role is critical to ensuring the security and integrity of our APIs and web applications, protecting sensitive data, and mitigating threats.

Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and manage security measures to protect APIs and web applications from threats.

- Develop and maintain security policies, rules, and signatures to detect and prevent attacks.

- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability testing on APIs and web applications.

- Collaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle.

- Monitor and respond to security incidents and alerts related to APIs and web applications.

- Stay current with emerging security threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture.

- Provide guidance and training to development teams on secure coding practices and API security.

Key Results:

- Enhanced security measures for APIs and web applications, resulting in a significant reduction in security incidents.

- Successful implementation and optimization of security solutions, ensuring robust protection against threats.

- Improved collaboration with development teams, leading to the integration of security best practices in all stages of development.

- Timely and effective response to security incidents, minimizing potential damage and data breaches.

- Continuous improvement in security policies and procedures, keeping pace with evolving threats and technologies.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in API security and software development.

- Strong knowledge of web application security principles and best practices.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.

- Experience with security tools and technologies, including SIEMs, IDS/IPS, and other relevant security platforms.

- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP are a plus.

Additional Knowledge & Critical Skills:

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- In-depth understanding of network security, encryption, and authentication protocols.

- Experience with cloud security, particularly in environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their relevant API Gateway products.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

- A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cybersecurity.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
