We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to head the Metrics pillar of our observability offering. This team engineers and supports observability products used across the enterprise, and they have the responsibility for observability metrics globally - for both on prem and public clouds workloads. A combination of your software Engineering, architecture, infrastructure, databases and people management can make you successful in this role. Roles and Responsibilities: Define observability strategy, goals and roadmap Develop and enhance full-stack observability for Hybrid, Cloud and Multi-cloud deployments while providing consistent view for various personas Solve complex technical problems – be hands-on Define and maintain a healthy balance of innovation and reliability as you deliver to meet customers’ needs Identify comprehensive risks and risk-mitigation-mapping matrix, coordinate with the Security, Risk & Compliance teams Ensure solution meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility and scalability Develop high-level solution specifications with attention to integration and feasibility (technical, function and financial) Prepare an easy-to-understand report detailing achieved milestones, short-term and long-term project goals Provide technical guidance and coaching to a team of developers and engineers Work with peers across all Observability pillars (Logs, Traces, Events and SRE) to achieve common observability goal Build familiarity with Observability industry challenges/trends and bring that knowledge to improve your offerings Skills / Qualifications Required: You are encouraged to apply if you have one of these qualifications/profile 5+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining large scale hybrid observability solutions 5+ years of experience in designing highly scalable enterprise solutions with high volume and low latency data platforms 5+ years of SRE practice experience with good knowledge of architecture and use of modern observability solutions 5+ years Software Engineering Experience with good knowledge of architecture and modern observability solutions Other Qualifications Experience delivering a high-demand customer-facing offerings/service Good knowledge of Full Stack Observability Good knowledge of Prometheus and OpenTelemetry concepts and SRE practices Experience managing a team of Engineers Outstanding collaboration, communication and presentation skills. Technical Skills Needed to Succeed: Hands on with one or more of these products – Prometheus, Grafana Stack (Grafana UI, GEM (Mimir), GET (Tempo), GEL (Loki), Splunk Observability, ElasticSearch, AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Observability, Datadog and Dynatrace Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, IBM) to design, create, and deploy solutions using Container/Kubernetes (OpenShift, IBM Cloud Private, GKE, EKS, AKS and so on) Experience working on large-scale projects, leading teams in an agile methodology and developing software utilizing various languages including Go, Ruby, Python, Java/J2EE, C++, PHP and .NET Experience building on modern microservice framework (Spring Boot, Node.js/Express, MicroProfile, Ruby on Rails) Knowledge of Grafana Stack is a plus Education: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
