Founded in 2002, Masters Drug Company is the nation’s premiere secondary pharmaceutical wholesale distributor (and a wholly owned subsidiary of McKesson Corporation). Building upon the strength and footprint of its parent organization - Masters sources and distributes a catalog of over 10,000 items (Generics, Brand, and OTC) to retail and institutional pharmacies across the United States and Puerto Rico.
In order to continually improve and evolve its value proposition and competitive positioning – Masters is looking for a Senior Director of Pricing & Purchasing, integral to the management team.
In this highly visible leadership position, our ideal candidate will be accountable for managing manufacturer relationships, designing, and implementing dynamic pricing and campaign strategies, as well as developing a team of Managers and Sr. Analysts tasked with executing differentiated channel strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct pricing and purchasing team to deliver against BU strategy and financial targets (including initiative targets in FY25/26).
- Daily evaluation of trends in pricing and channel GP capture to maximize profitability across sales channels, customers, and product categories (Gx, Bx, OTC). Assessing campaigns for effectiveness, and providing guidance to team to maximize outcomes.
- Evaluate competitive intelligence along with product performance to identify actionable guidance that optimizes margin capture.
- Work with Generics Analytics, and other MT partners (i.e. SAP team) to inform development and successful execution of dynamic pricing model and pricing automation activities.
- Additional key projects requiring MT partnership include and are not limited to: implementation of inventory allocation logic, for best-in-class customer experience.
- Serve as accountable leader for critical activities related to resuming direct sourcing with supplier partners.
- Develop and maintain strong industry relationships with Manufacturers.
- Regularly attend industry functions to meet with new and existing business partners.
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the enterprise (Gx Ops, Gx Programs, Masters Business Development, Masters Inside Sales, Masters eComm) to execute against strategic priorities.
- Develop, coach, manage team for continuous growth and professional development.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).
Education
4-year degree in Finance, Business, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field.
Critical Skills
- 13+ years generics pharmaceutical purchasing experience
- 6+ years pricing experience in the secondary market and executing activities that support achievement of revenue and gross margin goals
- Solid understanding of primary and secondary wholesaler distributors
- People-savvy collaborator with the confidence to manage internal and external stakeholders and the polish to routinely interact and influence an executive-level audience
Additional Skills
- Primary pharmaceutical distribution experience highly encouraged. Secondary pharmaceutical distribution experience considered significant advantage.Â
