Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Overview:
Repairs and upgrades forklift trucks and transportation vehicles by listening to operators description of malfunctions, conducting tests, identifying problems and finding resolutions. Submit purchase order request for parts. Maintains a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operation; following standards and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains forklift truck and vehicle serviceability by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repairs to include; hydraulics systems, electrical systems, and drive train overhauling. Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Change and fill batteries and general maintenance on forklifts and stock selectors.

Education and/or Experience:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED (May substitute experience for education on a year-by-year basis).
- Equivalent training/ experience, and five years of general experience of which two years must be related experience are required.
- In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Preferred candidate will have experience with numerous equipment model lines such as Yale, Hyster, Clark, Crown, Raymond and Mitsubishi forklifts to include electrical, gasoline, propane and diesel models.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.
- Must be able to demonstrate a good attitude and an ability to work as a member of a team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
- Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid California Drivers License required. CDL preferred.

Work Environment:
Works in shop/warehouse environment. Work involves repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time. Work is of a physical nature and requires the incumbent be able to lift 50 lbs overhead and/or repetitively. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather is occasionally required.
