Job Summary:

Provides ambulatory behavioral health services including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, case management and psychotherapeutic intervention provided to individuals, families, groups and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs. Provides services to adults of all ages, adolescents and children. Supervises assigned staff.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes formal knowledge base, theoretical concepts, and specific functional skills to effect emotional responses, and social conditions. Helps individuals, couples, families, groups, and community organizations enhance or restore their capacities for personal and social functioning and preventing and controlling social problems.

  • Conducts social work consultation. Assesses treatment and prevention of psychosocial dysfunction, disability, or impairment, including emotional and mental disorders.

  • Gathers information and identifies resource and referral services for patient care. Educates patient regarding mental health services and their benefits.

  • Conducts preparation and evaluation of psychosocial assessments and development of social work service plans.

  • Performs case management, coordination, and monitoring of social work service plans in areas of personal, social or economic resources, conditions, or problems. Performs clinical diagnosis or psychotherapy.

  • Assists with administration, development, implementation, and evaluation of social work programs and policies. Assists in establishing clinical best practices and guidelines for delivery of service to population of clients served.

  • Prepares monthly staff schedule. Conducts staff meetings. Participates in clinical team meetings, departmental planning and quality management activities.

  • Manages program in area of specialty. Serves as program resource to other staff.

  • Participates in or assists with therapeutic and educational group programs. Evaluates outcomes and effects of treatment.

  • Researches, collects and records data and information relating to identification and treatment of behavioral and interpersonal problems of patient. Proposes alternatives for interventions and approaches for resolution of these problems.

  • Collaborates and consults with physicians and other interdisciplinary clinical team members to support assessments and decision making. Reviews cases or quality assurance concerns with clinical team.

  • Develops clinical expertise. Gains knowledge of current clinical conditions, methods, medications, theoretical frameworks and interventions. Utilizes best practices in delivery of behavioral health services in accordance with professional and clinical guidelines established by professional bodies or mental health services department.

  • Documents clinical assessments, treatment plans, interventions and other important information in patient medical record according to Regional and departmental guidelines.

  • Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, disciplines, and terminates assigned staff as appropriate.

  • Communicates goals, objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and authority parameters to assigned staff.


Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum four (4) years of experience with conducting group therapy, intensive outpatient treatment, and/or partial hospitalization programs.

Education

  • Graduate degree in social work from an accredited college or university, passing score on the clinical level national board examination, and supervised clinical social work training, as required by Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS) 467E-7.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Hawaii)
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire
Additional Requirements:

  • Taxonomy code required at time of hire
  • Familiarity with writing treatment plans.
  • Familiarity with conducting assessments and using the DSM IV.
  • Familiarity with frequently used psychiatric medications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, conflict resolution, decision making, group process facilitation, group presentations, leadership, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, quality management, team building, teamwork and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory/lead or program management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in documentation according to national accreditation guidelines.
  • Primary care, chemical dependency, and inpatient work experience.
  • Consultation/liaison experience.
