The Provider Service Representative is responsible for assisting in the full range of provider relations and service interactions within UnitedHealth Group, including working on end-to-end provider claim and call quality, ease of use of physician portal and future service enhancements, and training and development of external provider education programs. Provider Service Representatives assist in the design and implementation programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers (physician, hospital, ancillary, etc.), and practice managers. 


Position in this function is responsible for supporting those who direct and implement strategies relating to the development and management of a provider network, identify gaps in network composition and services to assist the network contracting and development staff in prioritizing contracting needs, and may also be involved in identifying and remediating operational short-falls and researching and remediating claims.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Training and on-going education of providers on policies and procedures
  • On-site assessments to ensure that providers are compliant with contractual terms
  • Trouble shooting provider concerns internally with the expectation of timely resolution of issues
  • Traveling to provider offices quarterly to build relationships, up to 75% travel within specific region in Tennessee
  • Presentations to train providers on new requirements, or reiterate existing requirements
  • Documenting outreach, as applicable

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of work experience (preferably in health care)
  • 2+ years of experience in Provider Relations and/or Contracting
  • Intermediate level skills with MS Office Products including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to travel in state (up to 75%) for provider visits


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the healthcare industry, in a role where provider interaction was involved
  • Experience and knowledge with Medicaid
  • Experience and knowledge with Long-Term Services and Supports providers

 

Soft Skills:

  • Solid analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple high priority projects and meet quick deadlines
