Chemical Lab Technician

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:  Onsite - Kohler, WI 

Opportunity

Operator of salt spray cabinets for corrosion testing services or activities.  Conduct ASTM G85 and B117 salt spray tests as required and write the reports.  Conduct plating thickness analysis and report the results.

Assist with projects managed by other associates in the laboratory depending on workload at any given time.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Be an operator of salt spray cabinets and perform ASTM G85, B117, and G368 (CASS) testing, as required.  Responsibilities include logging projects in LIMS system, inspection of parts before and after testing in salt spray cabinets, photographing parts after testing, preparing Excel or Word reports to document the work, and measuring and documenting cabinet conditions and quality control activities.
  • Be a primary operator for x-ray plating thickness testing per CHEM Lab procedures.  Responsibilities include maintaining proficiency with the equipment, setting up calibration curves, photographing parts after testing and preparing Excel or Word reports to document the work, completing quality control measurements to verify instrument accuracy.
  • Maintain lab and sample preparation equipment as assigned. Keep all work areas clean and safe.
  • Maintain LIMS familiarity relative to logging in, entering results, and reporting of projects.
  • Assist throughout the lab as needed.
  • Write and audit procedures, maintenance manuals (MM), and MM logs as assigned.
  • Participate on the CHEM Lab Safety Committee as assigned.


Skills/Requirements

  • An associate degree in a related science field, or a minimum of two years of relevant laboratory experience is required.  Working knowledge of PCs and Microsoft Windows-based software.
  • Must be well organized, be attentive to details, and quality focused with high standards of performance.
  • Interfaces well with customers in order to understand and respond to their needs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
  • Willing to learn and take on additional duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist other Lab associates when requested.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Functions well in a team environment and is able to take direction and assignments from Staff and Senior Associates.

The hourly range for this position is $19.95 - $24.95. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
