As a Senior Engineer – Electrical & Energy Systems, you will lead critical initiatives in electrical infrastructure, energy efficiency, and project management. This hybrid role encompasses designing, optimizing, and maintaining electrical power and building systems, while also driving strategic efforts to enhance facility-wide energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve resource sustainability. You will have the opportunity to manage impactful projects and directly contribute to Kohler’s commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility.
On-site presence is required for individual projects, and occasional travel (up to 15%) may be necessary. A hybrid work model may be considered for the ideal candidate.

Specific Responsibilities
- Core Electrical & Building Systems Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and optimize electrical systems, including power distribution, fire alarm, standby generation, and building management systems (BMS) for facilities and renovations.
- Develop conceptual designs, detailed engineering plans, and specifications for a broad spectrum of electrical and building systems projects.
- Conduct feasibility assessments, electrical load calculations, and risk mitigation planning for system installations or modifications.
- Assemble and oversee project packages, including scope definition, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, construction management, and commissioning.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Initiatives
- Lead energy efficiency efforts for plant systems by identifying, evaluating, and implementing opportunities to reduce energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, and water consumption.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability best practices into facility design, operations, and renovations.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for energy-efficient technologies, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Project Management
- Take ownership of high-priority projects, managing the full lifecycle from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with company goals and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including equipment vendors and contractors, to deliver projects on budget and schedule.
- Provide clear, concise communication with senior leadership on project status, challenges, and results.
- Mentorship & Leadership
- Mentor junior engineers, focusing on the development of technical skills and effective communication.
- Emphasize collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless coordination across Mechanical, HVAC, and structural engineering disciplines.
- Develop leadership skills with the potential to manage one to two direct reports as the role evolves.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, with a strong background in electrical systems design, energy efficiency, or building systems engineering, and project management.
- Experience with BMS, HVAC, and medium/low-voltage systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in industry standards and codes such as NFPA 70, 72, 101, IBC, and ASHRAE.
- Demonstrated project management experience, with PMP certification preferred but not required.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical topics to non-technical audiences. Must be able to effectively present to senior executives on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and knowledge of energy efficiency frameworks.
