White Sands, a HumanGood life plan community (CCRC) in beautiful La Jolla, CA, is seeking Medical Records Clerk for our Skilled Nursing Unit. Pay range $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Shift:  Monday - Friday, A.M. Shift

Job Duties: 

*The Medical Records Clerk assists the Director of Nursing and/or Health Services Director in maintaining the facility's clinical record system.

*Reviews, audits and updates charts on paper and/or on computer, including physicians order sheets, medication sheets and treatment sheets and ADL sheets.

*Processes admissions and discharges.

*Responsible for following standards of practice and facility policies and procedures to ensure complete, timely, and accurate medical records.  

*Manages all aspects of the medical patient record from admission to discharge.

*Assists in implementing record procedures for the Clinical Records Unit

Education –

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred;
  •  Completion of classes in medical terminology and knowledge of HIPPA.

Experience/Training –

  •  Must have Document Imaging or Scanning experience
  •  Minimum 3 years of strong office/customer service administration experience required
  •  Some medical terminology
  •  Entry level understanding of healthcare administration
  •  Basic understanding of HIPAA and PHI

Preferences

  • Completion of a certificate or 2-year associate's degree in MT or HIM
  • Licensed either RHIT, CPC or CCS with coding experience
  • Licensed as Registered Health Information Technician, preferred
