Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location:   La Jolla, CA 

Pay Range:  $24/hr on W2

 

What’s the Job?

Position Title: Facilities Technician
Location: La Jolla, CA (11011 N Torrey Pines)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Preferred 8:00 AM - 4:30/5:00 PM (Flexible)
Assignment Duration: 6 months with potential to convert to full-time (FTE)
Salary Upon Conversion: Approximately $70,000
Work Environment: In-Person

Role Overview:
The Facilities Technician will support the daily operation and maintenance of the site. They will conduct routine checks, handle maintenance tasks, and respond to service requests, all while ensuring the safety and security of the building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform site facility checks, monitor building conditions (e.g., leaks, power issues)
  • Maintain inventory of supplies (ceiling tiles, lightbulbs)
  • Conduct safety and security checks, ensuring all doors are locked and secure
  • Respond to service requests via email and log requests into the work order system
  • Communicate expected completion times to customers
  • Assist in ordering and receiving supplies
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as clock adjustments, battery checks, and restocking supply cabinets
  • Utilize trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC
  • Adhere to safety regulations, codes, and directives
  • Assist with installation and troubleshooting of building systems
  • Inspect new installations for code compliance
  • Handle emergency situations and provide vendor escorts as needed
  • Perform carpentry, locksmith tasks, and furniture assembly as required
  • Cover front desk when needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/carry heavy loads (50 lbs or more)

Experience & Education:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma required

Required Skills:

  • Experience with work order systems (Maximo preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams & Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of phone systems and communication tools

Preferred Certifications:

  • VAC Certification and Forklift Certification (preferred but not required)

Interview Process:

  • 2 rounds: 1st round phone interview, 2nd round in-person interview

Top Must-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with Outlook, phone system applications, and work order systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Customer service experience
  • Willingness to perform general housekeeping tasks
