TRC Talent seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes in a GMP environment, ensuring product quality while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Position is based in Lawrenceville, GA. The ideal candidate will lead and manage engineering projects, coordinate resources, and ensure the successful implementation of new processes and technologies.  Firm prefers candidate from food manufacturer, engineering degree and ability to work fully onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing engineering projects by defining project scope, activities, milestones, and contractor requirements while ensuring alignment with plant and customer needs.
  • Scheduling & Budgeting: Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets. Provide status updates, adjust timelines as necessary, and control expenditures to stay within budget.
  • Capital Expenditures: Collaborate with various departments to prepare annual capital expenditure proposals for board submission.
  • Resource Coordination: Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate resources with supporting teams.
  • Deliverables: Oversee preparation and delivery of project documentation, design documents, and bid packages.
  • Technical Review: Ensure product designs comply with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and quality regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Coordinate efforts to resolve technical issues related to design, development, and testing. Approve design changes, specifications, and drawings.
  • Project Reporting: Prepare interim and final project reports to share with stakeholders and customers.
  • Equipment Testing: Attend factory acceptance tests (FATs) for new equipment and document findings or improvements.
  • Safety & SOP Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Travel

  • Minimal travel required (up to 5%-10%) for activities or visits to other facilities.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as an engineer working on technical projects in a manufacturing facility.
  • Strong technical background, including hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, facilities, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Project Tracking Software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
  • Ability to produce Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Willing to obtain forklift certification.
  • Experience managing projects in a manufacturing setting, particularly in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, dust collection, and structural engineering.
  • Ability to lead or initiate Kaizen events.
  • Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher).
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
