Location: Lawrenceville, GA
Pay: DOE – $25/hr
Duration: 6-month contract, with potential for extension/conversion based on candidate performance.
Schedule:Â Monday to Thursday On-Site; Friday (Remote)Â
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Planner to join our team on a 6-month contract. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of freight across a multi-regional geographic area. As part of a dynamic team, you will leverage your knowledge of transportation management systems, freight operations, and problem-solving skills to optimize our logistics operations. The contract may extend beyond 6 months depending on your performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule freight deliveries across multiple regions using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).
- Oversee the timely dispatch, pick-up, and delivery of loads within assigned geographic areas.
- Utilize network balance capacity tools to identify the most efficient use of trucks and available customer loads.
- Proactively communicate with leadership to address daily capacity demand and transportation needs.
- Assign loads to trucks using Network Decision Support tools (e.g., OTM, PC Miler), ensuring customer service requirements are met.
- Monitor and report any delays or changes in pickups, deliveries and communicate these changes to relevant departments.
- Assist with transportation compliance audits, KPI reporting, and project support.
- Manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or 5+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning, logistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and/or other ERP systems like JDE E1 and SAP.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Familiarity with DOT Hazardous Material Shipping regulations.
- A strong understanding of the freight industry, including TL, LTL, Ocean freight, and parcel shipping.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
