About The Position

Wellhart is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum tenens position at a hospital in California. This 16-day assignment begins on April 1, 2025, with both day (7 AM - 7 PM) and night (7 PM - 7 AM) shifts available. The role involves providing comprehensive emergency care for a variety of conditions including cold, flu, chest pain, lacerations, and broken bones. The ideal candidate must be proficient in intubation and all emergency procedures. This opportunity utilizes the Meditech EHR system and offers ongoing night shifts with a chance for extension. An active California medical license is required.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide emergency medical care for a wide range of conditions and injuries 

• Perform rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries 

• Conduct intubations and other emergency procedures as needed 

• Manage critical care patients and coordinate admissions when necessary 

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies 

• Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate 

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams 

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using the Meditech EHR system 

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures 

• Provide patient and family education on medical conditions and treatment plans 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the emergency department

Additional Information: 

• Must be board-certified/board-eligible in Emergency Medicine 

• Active California medical license required 

• Proficiency in emergency procedures, including intubation 

• Experience with Meditech EHR system preferred 

• Strong clinical decision-making and time management skills 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work both day and night shifts 

• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient volumes and acuity levels
