What you’ll Do: 

All partner relations within a particular category are the responsibility of the Supplier Partnership Manager (SPM).  The (SPM) is responsible for the financial performance of a particular product category.  Profitability will be measured on several components including field sales margin, vendor rebates, vendor payment terms and vendor marketing contributions such as promotion allowances, sample allowances, etc.    In addition, he or she will monitor the performance of vendors and products within a category as well as a review of potential product additions that will result in improving the category’s performance.  The SPM works very closely with Inventory Management to ensure the efficient delivery and proper inventory levels of the products in the category and Marketing to create support materials that will assist in the sales of the category.

Strong ethics and negotiation skills are required for this role.  Sales or supplier management experience in the category is required to ensure understanding of the field sales needs.  The right candidate possesses professional presence and communication skills and is collaborative, analytical, detailed oriented and service minded.  This individual represents Heritage to a large section of our vendor community.

  • Supplier Relations: Develop and manage relationships with existing and potential vendors.  Review annually to determine the strategic value to the organization.  Annually conduct a strategic partner evaluation to determine rationalization of vendors and SKUs.
  • Negotiations: Responsible for negotiating financial components including but not limited to price, rebate, payment terms, prepaid freight, and marketing allowances (i.e., promos, coupons, samples) with our vendors.  In addition, legal contract language in supply agreements will be negotiated by this position in cooperation with our legal department.
  • Selling Price: Participates in providing market data and insights to assist the centralized pricing team to determine selling prices at a market level.
  • Marketing: Involved in the development of marketing materials such as catalogs, sales sheets, branding and logo development.  Responsible for the timeliness of the marketing support materials to field sales.
  • Sales Support:  Provide product and sales training to the field sales staff and participate in trade shows that promote the sales of the category and assist with the sales process for key accounts. Support warranty resolution when unusual circumstances take place.
  • Profitability: Review sales, margin, and gross profit dollars on a weekly basis. Determine opportunities for sales, margin, and gross profit dollars improvement.  Partner with inventory management to ensure inventory levels are equitable to overall profitability.
  • Product Availability: Set up multiple sources of supply to ensure availability.  Set up regional sources of supply when needed.
  • International Market Knowledge:  Understanding of global supply and raw material impact on pricing trends.  Appropriately evaluates the impact of all applicable laws governing imports to ensure compliance.
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
