Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Nuclear Survivability/Air Blast Effects to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL. In this role, the Sr. Principal Systems Engineer will have a unique opportunity to support design and mitigation strategies to develop and field a survivable weapon system with operational requirements involving various threat environments. Key Responsibilities: The candidate will implement a weapon system air blast threat environment compliance and certification program, contribute to product development and program completion, manage, perform and mature weapon system analysis, evaluate verification criteria of components, equipment, subsystems and air vehicle. Perform core Systems Engineering functions such as air blast requirements development, analysis, decomposition, and traceability Provide cross-IPT support for development/certification efforts, development and review of SSOW/SDRL/CDRL, and completion of trade studies Provide technical guidance to IPTs and suppliers Participate in requirement/design Allocation Control Boards (ACBs), Technical Review Boards (TRBs), and other program reviews and boards Generate weapon system design criteria supported by design analysis, modeling & simulation, equipment and system-level trade studies, system integration, piece-part, component, equipment, and system test artifacts Develop nuclear hardness system level design strategies, including system level analysis and testing in support of the acquisition life cycle Review of supplier drawings, Qualification Test Plans & Procedures, Qualification Test Reports, and Qualification by Similarity substantiating data Contribute to and review system-level NH&S Design Analysis Reports (DAR) and nuclear hardness system test plans and reports documenting equipment compliance and weapon system certification Prepare and present Nuclear Survivability engineering artifacts supporting requirements compliance and weapon system performance traceability throughout Design Reviews We offer flexible work arrangements, 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering OR Master of science degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, OR a Doctorate in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an interim Top Secret prior to starting, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company Ability to travel 20% of the time is required Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Systems Engineering - Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) focused work regimen Proven experience with team engagement experience in a leadership/Team Lead role Experience developing key performance requirements, decomposing them into a set of key functional elements, and developing a system design/architecture which satisfies weapon system operational constraints Experience with Systems Engineering processes and software for development of non-functional certification artifacts – CAMEO, DOORs, etc. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating technical approaches/concepts to customers, engineers and management from multiple disciplines Experience performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk assessments, and compliance analysis for total weapon system design efforts Current, active Top Secret clearance
