Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Systems / Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization.Ā This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
**This role may be filled at the Base OR Principal Engineer level based on the qualifications listed, below**
In this role, you will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Also, analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organization and self-drive to gather required information, work with stakeholders, and provide analyses and presentations.
- Performs mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering āVeeā.
- Ensures performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develops mission relevant scenarios; assesses operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.
- Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models, and command and control models.
- Simulates real-time operations and develops software that represent projected behavior of systems.
- Develops, integrates, and uses advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
- Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
- Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
- Incorporates AI/ML techniques in Modeling and Simulation frameworks

Basic Qualifications (Base):
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience OR and STEM PhD AND 0 years of related professional/military experience
Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company
Must have experience using Java
Must have experience with Ansys STK (Systems Tool Kit)

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Python and MATLAB developing tools and algorithms
Previous experience in aviation and defense programs
Knowledge of Monte Carlo simulations
Knowledge of data mining techniques.
Ability to identify tasks that can be automated for efficiency
Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architectures
Familiarity with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, etc.)
A current active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
Current or previous access to a Special Access Program (SAP)
Salary Range 2: $92,600 - $139,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
