Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer - Cost Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, the Cost Engineering position represents a unique specialty engineering opportunity within the larger Systems Engineering organization. The Cost Engineer works closely with all technical aspects and requirements of the program, linking the technical solution to the cost solution. They are responsible for performing a variety of engineering economic analyses that can be executed throughout the product life cycle stages. The position requires an understanding of at least two of the following analyses: Cost-Effectiveness, Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Cost As an Independent Variable (CAIV), Design to Cost (DTC), and Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI). It requires systems thinking and a working knowledge of the full development life cycle. The candidate will develop and oversee tradeoffs of requirements, design, performance, cost, and schedule to address affordability constraints. The candidate should have a strong understanding of Systems Engineering; stakeholder analysis, mission engineering, system architecture and design, system integration, system analysis and trade studies, risk and opportunity management. They should also demonstrate sound engineering economics and business acumen. The Cost Engineer may participate in both new business capture efforts and ongoing program execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 12 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 10 years of related professional/military experience OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience
  • Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or certification in Systems Engineering
  • Experience with cost-effectiveness, LCC, CAIV, DTC, and/or CRI analyses
  • Experience in developing cost research models and cost risks analysis for complex aerospace systems
  • Experience in performing cost estimating activities such as cost analysis, statistical analysis, WBS development, and cost risk analysis
  • Experience with DoD Acquisition principles and guides, e.g. MIL-STD 881E, O&S CAPE Guide, DAU Guide on Systems Engineering, etc.
  • Working knowledge of cost parametric tools: ACEIT, SEER from Galorath, VBA and Unison TruePlanning
  • Experience in Cost Data Analysis and Predictive Analytics; Tableau & Alteryx’ Experience with data mining/analytics programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or BA
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills across multiple levels
     
Salary Range: $147,700 - $221,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
