Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking Principal DevOps Software Engineer to join our Core Mission System Software (CMSS) team – a team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has some Hybrid work available.
Essential Functions:
- Successful candidates should have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Expertise in Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and related DevOps technologies.
- Develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized containers for Open Mission Systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards.
- Development and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited University with 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering; OR Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited University with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Object Oriented (OO) programming in C++, Python, or Java.
- Experience building, testing, maintaining, and releasing OCI-compliant containers
- Experience with configuration and administration of DevOps tools, CI/CD concepts, and automated build pipelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to Obtain and maintain Special Program Access Clearance.
- Familiarity with OMS services and creation of OMS services with use of containers.
- Experience with creation of training materials for technical information for team members/large groups.
- Experience working within an Agile software development environment.
- Experience creating configurations for container deployments, networks, and services on k8s.
- Experience configuring k8s CNIs and distributed storage.
- Experience building, testing, maintaining, releasing Helm charts for use by k8s.
- Experience building, testing, maintaining, releasing customer-ready C++, Python, and/or Java software.
- Familiarity with software development tools such as Bitbucket, CMake, Docker, GCC, Git, Jenkins, kubectl, Podman, SSH, and Visual Studio.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and/or Configuration as Code (CaC).
- Experience creating configurations for container deployments, networks, and services on k8s.
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
