Support Research Operations from a financial point-of-view with accurate analyses, effective reporting, financial processes such as budgeting and forecasting, and insightful financial advice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing departmental budgets along with appropriate variances analyses using historical data and insightful prediction techniques to propose recommendations

  • Analyzing variances to standard and detecting root causes

  • Analyzing historical trends and interpreting them toward predicting future performance based on cause-and-effect relationships

  • Developing forecasting models including appropriate variance analyses using historical data and insightful prediction techniques to propose recommendations

  • Preparing the Monthly Operating Report for executive management supported by the appropriate data and variance analysis complete with root cause research

  • Developing business plans for new ventures, partnerships, and other business relationships providing rationale and justification for positions taken

  • Interpreting contract language and independently building financial models that conform to agreement details including what-if models

  • Completing financial analyses that accurately reflect business health including contribution margin, EBITDA, ROI etc. along with full explanation and interpretation of results

  • Designing reports that communicate performance, identify issues, and contribute to better management decisions including the identification and exploitation of best practices

  • Developing profitability analyses for business segments, studies, sponsors, lines of business, etc. using insightful, cost-driver based processes

  • Monitoring performance to metrics, explaining variances, and offering ideas for performance improvements

  • Analyzing staffing requirements based on activity drivers, monitoring trends, tracking variances, and developing projections with predictive insight

  • Initiating and leading process improvement initiatives inside the department as well as cross functionally

  • Extracting appropriate data from supporting systems and preparing ad hoc analyses and reports that serve to inform management and improve operations

  • Supporting assigned business lines with insightful financial advice based on thorough analyses

  • During your employment with SCRI, you will be routinely assigned training requirements. You are expected to complete any training assignments by the due date.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred

  • 3+ years of experience as a financial analyst

  • Experience with business models and performance metrics related to healthcare or clinical research 

  • Advanced knowledge of financial and accounting concepts

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint user

  • A Power user of software applications in extracting and analyzing data 

  • Self-directed problem solver showing individual initiative with strong work ethic 

  • Experienced in presenting effectively and convincingly 

  • Naturally curious regarding cause and effect, developing models as a result 

  • Able to analyze data and drawing insightful inferences from them 

  • A professional communicator orally and in writing
