East Memphis Surgery Center is currently hiring an OR Manger!
The OR Manager is responsible for supervising and directing nursing care in operating rooms / clinical areas of the facility according to its policies and procedures. Coordinates and directs patient care and related activities of the facility according to accepted standards. Shares responsibility for the fiscal activities of the clinical services. Analyzes and evaluates nursing care to improve quality of care given. Works closely with Pre-Op and PACU Managers as well as administrative and medical staff in coordinating patient-care service functions. May assume responsibilities for Administrator in their absence.
This position supervises nurses, operating room technicians, radiology technicians, first assistants, scrub assistants, instrument technicians, patient care technicians, housekeeping staff and contract employees in the clinical area.
The OR Manager is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operation and oversight of the Center. The management spectrum covers planning, organizing, delegating, coordinating, staffing & staff utilization, resource allocation, cost controls, and compliance.
Areas of accountability of the OR Manager are outlined as follows:
- Assistance to surgeons through provisions of adequately prepared service team members.
- Delegation of responsibilities and duties to professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
- Responsibility for performance evaluation of all department personnel.
- Coordination of administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of the staff.
- Coordination of the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with the Director of Supply.
- Coordination of activity within the O.R. suite.
- Other responsibilities or activities as determined by the facility Administrator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
- Demonstrated communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, and assessing.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, nationally recognized guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, staff, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively present information to staff, management and physicians.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, medical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Registered Nurse with experience in procedures and the operating room, in a surgical setting.
- Prefer two year of management experience in ambulatory care.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- A current RN license from the State.
- Current BLS certification
