Job Title:Â Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Essential Functions:Â Responsible for rendering technical patient care and assurance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Supervision Received:Â Registered Nurse
Education/Experience:
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Certified as EMT-B, EMT-C, EMT-ST pr EMT-P
- BLS Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Organizes and prioritizes technical patient services and assures that they are delivered according to policy and procedure
- Physical care of the patient is maintained
- Data is collected and charted appropriately, and RN is notified of any abnormal/unusual findings.
- Proficiency demonstrated in IV removal and able to accurately include data entry from an EKG
- Point of care testing and quality check are performed accurately
- Implements actions to ensure efficient and effective services are provided for patients
- Equipment is inspected to ensure that it is functioning properly and stocked appropriately with supplies
- Rooms and equipment are cleaned appropriately
- Apply principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Ensures that patients are appropriately identified prior to any intervention
- Proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices are utilized when transporting or moving patients
- Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others
- Demonstrates a positive environment conducive to development of others on an ongoing basis
- Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills
- A positive professional demeanor is projected through verbal and non-verbal communications
- Information for patients and staff is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable
- Ensures that privacy is maintained at all times for patient and employee information
- Actions are initiated to meet or exceed customer/co-workers’ expectations in delivering service
- Appropriate resources throughout the Organization are used consistently to meet customer needs
