Automation Operator – Nights
Pay: Starting at $25.00/hr
Shift: Rotating 12-hour Shift 7:00pm – 7:00am

Summary:
The Automation Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating automated systems and machinery within a production environment. They ensure that all equipment functions correctly, perform basic troubleshooting, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain production quality and efficiency. The Automation Operator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of automated processes.


Key Responsibilities

Operation of Automated Systems

  • Start up, monitor, and shut down automated equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adjust machine settings to achieve the desired production output and product quality.
  •  Operate control systems, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), to control automated processes.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting
  • Continuously monitor the performance of automated machinery, identifying and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and make minor repairs or adjustments to resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Notify maintenance technicians or engineers of any significant issues that require more advanced troubleshooting or repairs.
Quality Control
  • Conduct routine checks and inspections of products coming off the automated line to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Make adjustments to processes or equipment as needed to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Record and report any deviations from quality standards.
Documentation and Reporting
  •  Maintain accurate records of production outputs, machine settings, and any issues encountered during operation.
  •  Complete daily production logs and other required documentation.
  •  Report production data and machine performance to supervisors or engineers.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure that automated equipment is operated in a safe manner.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment and report any hazards or potential risks.
  • Comply with company policies and regulatory requirements related to production and safety.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, and other operators to ensure the smooth operation of automated systems.
  • Provide feedback on equipment performance and suggest improvements to enhance productivity or quality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status and any issues.

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills
  • Basic understanding of automated systems, including PLCs, robotics, and sensors. Fanuc, Epson systems preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret machine settings, production instructions, and control panels.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for addressing minor equipment malfunctions.
Problem-Solving Skills
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during operation.
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
Physical Requirements
  •   Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  •   Ability to work in an industrial environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Communication and Collaboration
  •  Strong communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with other team members.
  •  Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Additional technical training or certification in automation, manufacturing, or a related field is beneficial.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, particularly in operating automated equipment.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and controls is a plus.

Work Environment
  • The Automation Operator works in a manufacturing or industrial setting, often on a production floor with machinery and automated systems. The role may require shift work, including nights and weekends, depending on the production schedule.
