Flexible Assembler V
Grade Level: 5
Pay: $19.45/hr
Shift: Rotating 12-hour Shift
Summary:
The Flexible Assembler V reports to their respectable Supervisor and
is responsible for assisting the Supervisor with all production assembly classifications in assembly operations, set-up of assembly stations, and performing assembly work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in assigning assemblers to stations as required to provide scheduled production in accordance with orders received from the General Supervisor.
- Assist in cross training the making of sub-assemblies, assembly, inspection, packing, warehouse, machining, cleaning, and testing activities.
- Working from written or verbal instructions, assemble/pack/warehouse/machine a variety of instruments/parts made to customer and/or W.E Anderson specifications in individual
or larger run quantities using various hand tools, test equipment, soldering iron/torch,
machines (turning, milling, drilling, threading, etc), shears, spot welders, press, etc.
- Perform measurement inspections and reading of engineering prints with common gages such as calipers, micrometer, thread gage, plug gage, etc.
- Perform product calibrations using standardized instruments such as flow meters, load test bank, pressure gages, volt ohmmeter, pressure calibration test stands, and flow test stands to meet established assembly requirements.
- Perform all final tests and inspections to ensure finished products/parts in all ways to meet established performance and quality standards.
- Care for, repair, and store all hand tools, tooling, fixturing, & measuring equipment as directed.
- Record production information as directed accurately including serial numbers, date code, quality assurance inspections, timecards, operator log, etc.
- Perform basic computer data entry and simple analysis of charts and graphs (productivity, warranty, safety, etc.) for continuous improvement.
- Aide with directing various set-up activities which include obtaining necessary parts and assembly jigs for each station, provide hand tools as required and instruct assemblers in the methods of assembly.
- Advise Supervisor of part shortages and prepare lead time estimates and completion time of various assembly orders to determine labor needs and availability and plan reassignment to various stations; write requisitions for material and work orders for maintenance needs.
- Inspect work in process to assure conformance with quality requirements; instruct personnel concerning errors or adjustments necessary in the assembly process, inform Quality Control Engineering of results.
- Maintain assembly print and parts lists files; maintain inventory records involving minimums and maximums to prevent material shortages; record simple data for cost purposes concerning labor charged against individual orders.
- Keep the assembly area neat and orderly by helping to direct 5S activities, and the return of unused parts to inventory.
- Maintain production time, attendance, and other records and charts on line performance.
Required Skills / Experience / Equipment Operation:
- Must Possess ALL Flexible Assembler IV as well as Line Leader I Skills, Experience and Requirements
- Should have adequate knowledge, experience and training in assembly procedures.
- Ability to plan and utilize assembly labor as essential to maintain production schedules.
- Must be able to routinely set the example and build quality product(s) efficiently.
- Must be able to perform managerially assigned tasks.
- Must possess the ability to properly train other employees to perform various production or related manufacturing tasks.
- Must display and maintain a positive attitude.
- An understanding of human relations and company policy is necessary as the Flexible Assembler V must be able fill in on occasion for Line Leader and must be able to gain and hold the respect of employees they are temporarily leading.
- Physical/Mental Essential Functions:

- Working Conditions:
- Work environment is very fast paced. Work is primarily conducted on the shop floor.
