Northrop Grumman is seeking a Linux Engineer to join our Submarine Trainer Development Team supporting the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. You will work with latest generation Intel based servers, Linux cluster configurations and virtualization architectures including Red Hat KVM. You will be responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting our large-scale System of Systems architecture building high-fidelity simulation, training, and analysis products for the US Navy. This position requires US Citizenship, a DoD Secret Security clearance, and is full-time onsite. The responsibilities for this position are to design, develop, install, and integrate submarine training systems. Qualified applicants will perform the following tasks: Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, system services, application software and system management tools for Linux systems, both natively and within virtual machines. Work with team to monitor and test applications, virtual machines, and containers to identify issues with installation and performance. Troubleshoot Information Technology (IT) Systems to diagnose and suggest/implement potential solutions. Support physical hardware installation of IT computing equipment and cabling at both local and remote sites.
