Howmet Savannah Operations has an opening for a Heat Treat Team leader that is able to work any shift.  This position assists with assigning, executing and reviewing work performed on assigned shift. They assist fellow team members in the safe execution of each team member’s job responsibilities in alignment with company policies and procedures. They operate equipment and assist team members to maintain efficient productivity within the department.
Essential Functions:
This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
Beginning of Shift:
Conduct a hand-off meeting with the previous shift Team Leader:
Review safety - any incidents that may have occurred, any new issues or hazards-Safety
Review quality concerns and incidents that occurred on previous shift-Quality
All work in process status-Production
All equipment status and any other issues-Maintenance
Assignment of shift personnel to machines and non-machine work and job priority
Review any general topics
During the Shift:
Ensure every employee is working safely and following company safety standards
Identify any safety hazards, inform your team and generate a safety near miss if necessary using Qpulse. (File, New, From Wizard, Safety Near Miss Wizard)
Ensure work centers have required tools, documents, programs and physical parts to keep machines running
Report any equipment issues to maintenance by radio or phone. Create a maintenance work order (FM 81) and report issue to supervisor
Monitor employee performance, identify issues, document in departmental OneNote file
Operate equipment when needed to maintain efficient productivity within the department
Conduct and\or monitor any training and orientation as instructed by supervisor, submit Qpulse training acknowledgement form (FM 13) to supervisor when completed
Perform Safety Stops, Quality Walks (FM 345) and 6S audits as scheduled
Inspect and restore the work area to acceptable 6S status and perform end of shift audit
Check all supplies levels and fill out request form if needed
Contact supervisor if any employee relations issue arises
Oversees the execution of the daily forging production schedule and directing the employees in TOC principles that include: safety, quality, productivity along with team work
Monitors and maintains production standards for efficiencies, material waste, and part quality
Effectively oversees the process technicians, processes and material flows to insure achievement of productivity goals
Initiates corrective actions to achieve productivity goals
Responsible for executing production goals, tracking and reducing downtime, 5S, changeover processes
Input, analyzes and communicates quality control data
Must be knowledgeable of heat treat principles and perform the work of a Heat Treat Operator in addition to leading the shift  Â
Develops and executes cross training of process technicians ensure team is well trained and flexible
Ability to communicate with all levels of management both verbally and in writing
Demonstrate good judgment, decision making and team building skills
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
Performs other duties as assignedÂ
End of Shift:
Conduct a hand-off meeting with the incoming shift Team Leader
Communicate identified safety issues/concerns, quality issues, equipment status, production goals and any special instructions or information
Prepare and send an end of shift report as instructed by department supervisor

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year work experience in Heat Treat
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of work experience in Heat Treat
- Experience leading a team or project and meeting deadlines
