Job Overview:
Represent the enterprise-wide perspective and provide guidance to advance The Toro Company’s strategy and interests related to product and packaging regulatory compliance. Provide strategic legal counsel and advice related to domestic and international product and packaging regulatory compliance requirements, including tracking, monitoring, interpreting and analyzing new laws and regulations that affect our global manufacturing enterprise.Â

What Will You Do? Â
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  ​​​​
- Research and interpret new and amended domestic and international product and packaging laws, rules, regulations, and standards that impact the business units and subsidiaries in the U.S. and abroad.Â
- Define risk and opportunities, including identifying impact on customers and markets and performing cost/benefit analysis to meet new requirements related to product and packaging laws and regulations throughout all stages of the product lifecycle.Â
- Prioritize and manage projects related to compliance and new product and packaging laws and regulations.Â
- Make recommendations and draft communications to divisions and other stakeholders regarding product and packaging compliance obligations, activities and projects.Â
- Prepare and submit compliance information, license applications, and other filings with governmental or regulatory agencies or bodies. Â
- Work with industry associations, including the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), and the Rechargeable Battery Association (PRBA) to monitor proposed legislation and regulations.Â
- Identify opportunities for strategic and competitive advantages through state, local and federal government initiatives and incentives.Â
- Provide cross-assignment support to Product Liability and Commercial Legal teams as needed.Â
- Other duties as assignedÂ
- Travel expectation: Minimal, but periodic to industry associate meetings and TTC locations

What Do You Need? Â
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: Â
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and admitted to, or ability to be admitted to, the Minnesota State Bar with 3 to 5 years of legal regulatory experience. Â
- Excellent communication and legal reasoning skills, both verbal and written
- Strong teamwork skills, with ability to work collaboratively to build consensus to accomplish objectives.
- Experience in legal interpretation of regulatory, environmental or trade compliance laws and regulations, within the manufacturing sector and, in particular, outdoor power equipment and heavy machinery.Â
- Knowledge of governmental regulations and legal regulatory systems and processes, preferably with laws and regulations regarding restricted chemicals and extended producer responsibility.  Â
- Experience with product safety matters and product liability claims, including product litigation, e-discovery, witness preparation, and claims management preferred, but not required. Â
- Solid leadership skills with experience leading other employees and/or project teams.
- Strong project leadership, management and organization skills, with demonstrated ability to get things done and a bias for action.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between ​$130,000 - $160,000.
