Position Summary:
This role is part of the xEV Drive Unit team for Electric Vehicle products, focusing on new process development, equipment installation, and continuous improvement during mass production. Key responsibilities include ensuring that production line processes, controls, testing, and equipment specifications align with operational needs and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, including equipment setup, verification, and maintenance.
  • Ensure equipment meets safety, operational, and product quality standards.
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration on equipment-related issues.
  • Program and maintain line controls, fastening systems, robotic and laser/vision systems, and data applications.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and experimentation to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Verify equipment installation meets specifications.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Confirm product requirements through testing and verification.
  • Assist in cross-departmental trials for issue resolution and troubleshooting.

Collaboration:
Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Maintenance, and Production teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field and 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and programming (PLC, vision systems, robotics).
  • Knowledgeable in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and power electronics.
  • Effective communication skills and flexibility with shifts.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive industry experience with electro/mechanical devices.
  • Knowledge of EV components (e.g., inverters, motors).
  • Familiarity with equipment runoff and power electronics.
  • Fluency in Japanese is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work flexible hours and extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and handle other physical requirements as needed.
  • Comfortable with travel for business purposes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel, Ladder Logic, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and various vision system platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities by Time Allocation:

  • Improve production processes (20%)
  • Support and maintain assembly equipment (25%)
  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment (15%)
  • Oversee equipment for new model development (25%)
  • Provide training and technical support (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Production Start-up Duties:

  • Develop processes for new manufacturing locations to support EV production.
  • Collaborate on equipment development and installation.
  • Participate in facility preparation for EV equipment installation and mass production.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and interact across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in managing complex instructions and technical language.
  • Adherence to the company’s core values and commitment to a clean, orderly work environment.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily open-office and factory settings with noise exposure.
  • Some domestic and international travel required (5-10%).
