The Pricing Analyst position is responsible for providing analysis of revenue, margin, and competitor activity to develop optimal pricing for geographies and market segments for select categories. Responsibilities include creating resell price of certain categories they are assigned such as Janitorial/Sanitation, Office Supplies, and other. Manages the margin on all items within these categories, and tracks in market sell prices to ensure it is correct in the market. Conducts market research and intelligence gathering in order to maintain a competitive pricing database and monitor changes in the marketplace and their impact on new and existing products.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage item by item sell price and margin gains across Bunzl sourced items within select categories.
Strategic engagement with sales and category management to develop and implement pricing initiatives and maintain margin goals.
Monitor competitive market to ensure pricing stays in line with trends in the marketplace.
Leverage market intelligence to validate and benchmark competitive pricing.
Create pricing strategy for select categories and how to best grow margin.
Monitor market needs and trends, competitive products, and the changing production schedules of approved manufacturers to improve competitive positioning within select categories.
Work to develop "Top Value Collection” through in market pricing, and ability to grow revenue and margin for select category items within this group of items.
Follow and communicate product pricing policies to improve product positioning while improving margin.
Manage projects and initiatives within select categories and demonstrating the ability to meet defined timelines and provide proactive status communication to business partners.
Support sales staff with pricing initiatives to maintain margin across all customers. Work to improve go-to-market strategy and speed of new product implementation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Distribution experience strongly preferred.
Solid knowledge of marketing and sales principles.
Solutions oriented thinker and doer.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong ability to assess and manage contractual, operational, financial and business risk.
Working knowledge of commodity indexes for raw materials, and the ability to assess total market price sensitivities.
Ability to effectively work across a matrix global organization.
A strong ability to create a partnership atmosphere with internal and external resources while achieving key operating goals.
- AS400 experience a plus
Exceptional EQ and influencing skills are required; Ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams.
A strong relationship builder who can foster excellent relationships and gain credibility quickly across all levels of the organization.
Technical Skills
- Must be process driven -continuously searching for ways to improve quality, accuracy, speed of response and departmental efficiency.
- Knowledge of the distribution environment, supplier selection and qualification.
- Product knowledge across multiple industries a definite plus.
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Excellent process improvement abilities.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a sales-driven distribution environment.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
