Assists in financial performance of the department, risk management, utilization management, and regulatory activities associated with the department. Evaluates, plans, and provides Physical Therapy services to patients of all ages. Effectively communicates vision, goals, and initiatives at the department level and incorporate these into department plans. Assists with yearly review of policies and procedures, including development and revision when indicated, which ensures compliance with all regulations. Ensures adequate staffing and competent care delivery. Develops and promotes service standards which foster a customer sensitive environment. Measures performance against standards and seeks team commitment to exceed standards. Promotes hospital and departmental programs for risk management and safety and ensures all staff are aware of and can implement these programs if necessary. In conjunction with the manager of rehab implements, and assists in achieving budgets. Manages the collection of data necessary to complete documentation required for rehab reimbursement. Reviews the medical record, utilizes patient and family subjective information, assesses mental status, evaluates physical limitations through proper use of clinical testing and objective measurements to identify the patient's problems and establish realistic, objective, measurable goals, and develop an individualized treatment plan. Administers appropriate, safe, and effective physical therapy treatments, monitors patient response to treatment, and makes modifications if needed. Completes a discharge plan to include education and instructions in a home exercise program and any use of equipment and communicates with the care team and physician recommendations for discharge.
