We are seeking qualified candidates for Medical Case Specialist I - AWW (Wed-Sun 7a-5:30p CST) opportunities on our Veteran Affairs Operations team. You will serve as the face of the organization through direct interactions with military service members, delivering exceptional customer service at all touch points.

What part would you play in this role?

As a Medical Case Specialist, you will work closely with veterans and the Veterans Administration to gather, collect, record, track and verify data and information from multiple sources. You will use software for functional area to schedule appointments and document in the case management systems while ensuring customer service at all customer touch points.

In this rewarding role, you will also:

  • Conduct high volume outbound calls to claimants to schedule medical evaluation appointments,  follow ups and any other needs in the scheduling process
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all customer touch point
  • Triage daily download of referrals and ensure appropriate worksheets are assigned to corresponding conditions as identified by the Veteran’s Administration office
  • Verify appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and CLIN codes are assigned to each case
  • Obtain medical history for specific conditions
  • Determine appropriate examinations, tests and specialists required for each case
  • Schedule appointments for examinees including follow-up appointments and rescheduled appointments
  • Ensure all examinees and providers receive necessary documentation

You must have:

  • 1 year of customer service background in a fast paced environment  
  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Strong Communication/ Customer Service Skills

Preferred to have:

  • 1-3 months of medical assistant background or equivalent medical terminology background
  • Highly driven with the ability to learn quickly
  • Computer Literacy  – Working with Dual Monitors and multiple software’s (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Proven ability to plan and organize work load
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced work environment
  • Good follow through skills
  • Must possess the ability and flexibility to work early morning, evening, and/or weekend shifts
  • Knowledge of Medical scheduling
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills

Typical Day:

  • Wednesday - Sunday: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM CST **Extra $2.00 per hour shift differential for working AWW shift.
  • Note: **This opportunity is not available for CA or AK employees

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting pay is $17.85 per hour with a 6% increase upon graduation of training
  • Extra $2.00 per hour shift differential for working AWW shift
  • Eligible for a quarterly bonus up to 6% and annual merit increases

Required
  • Less than 1 year(s): Experience in healthcare, medical, or insurance related industries
Preferred
  • Direct healthcare experience in medical case management or quality assurance to include the review of complex multi-focal medical reports for quality, clarity, thoroughness and insightful medical explanation
  • Experience with electronic medical scheduling and case management software
