About the Role
Jefferson Wells is seeking an experienced Plant Controller for a minimum of 3 months to oversee accounting functions for a manufacturing plant. This role is an excellent fit for an experienced, hands-on professional with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, accounting, and financial controls. In this position, you’ll manage the plant’s financial operations on an interim basis in close partnership with the operations team and plant leadership, owning the integrity of the plant's financial data and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Accounting & Financial Controls: Lead and manage the location's financial controls and manufacturing accounting, working closely with plant management and operations.
- Standard Costing & Variance Analysis: Use your depth of experience in standard costing to conduct heavy variance analysis each month, especially around standard costs and accounts like A/P.
- Inventory & Asset Management: Oversee cycle counts, review for idle assets, and prepare for the plant’s year-end physical inventory count, including planning, coordinating, reconciling results, and working with auditors as required.
- Analytics & Reporting: Deliver timely analytics on financial data, identifying key insights to support plant leadership and manufacturing goals.
- Leadership: Collaborate with operations and other finance leaders to ensure alignment with plant and organizational objectives.

- Ability to begin engagement right away and commit to duration of project. Ability to be on-site full time.
- Plant Controller Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years as a Plant Controller, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Proven ability to independently manage plant accounting functions is essential.
- US GAAP & SOX Compliance: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls in compliance with SOX requirements.
- Standard Costing Expertise: Significant experience with standard costing, variance analysis, and understanding of manufacturing cost structures.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in monthly variance analysis, inventory cycle counts, and fluctuation reviews in key accounts.
- Collaborative Mindset: Comfortable engaging across teams, including plant management and operations, to drive financial goals.
