GTB - Structured Trade Finance - VP

Responsibilities:

  • Originate, structure and execute Structure trade products (Inventory Finance, Prepayments, Trade Loans, Structured Lending, etc.) to existing and new Santander clients in the investment grade and sub-investment grade space, proactively looking for new business opportunities covering domestic or cross-border trade, with or without recourse and under a portfolio or name-by-name approach
  • Prepare term sheets, commitment and fee letters and relevant marketing materials, support credit approval process, and negotiate legal agreement with clients and external counsel
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of key trends across our core sectors and potential application of working capital solutions. Perform research on an ad hoc basis for relevant topics
  • Contribute to the creation and future development of the product proposition through regular sharing of client feedback
  • Coordinate stakeholders both internal (Corporate Bankers, KYC/ CDD, Compliance, Risks, Legal, IT, Compliance, Middle Office, Operations, etc.) and external (Legal firms, Insurers, brokers, etc.) to provide a best-in-class service and seamless end to end execution including client onboarding and due diligences process
  • Ensure understanding of the Bank’s operating practices and governance and ensure these are followed in line with the guidelines. 
  • Provide pricing / market intelligence to transactions, ensuring transaction profitability in line with the Bank’s capital models presenting to the relevant committees, where applicable
  • Perform first line of defense role for the bank across all risks: Financial/ Credit, Legal, Reputational, Regulatory, Compliance, etc. 
  • Reporting to senior management regarding the progress of the commercial agenda

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Finance or equivalent field.

Work Experience:

Trade Finance, Structured Finance, Investment Banking, Project Finance, 7+ years.

Experience in Commodities sector is a plus but not required


Qualifications:

  • Experience in structured finance (including and not limited to investment banking, project finance, receivables finance, etc.). Exposure to Commodities Finance is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of global supply chain functions and ability to incorporate structured financial solutions
  • High motivation, proactivity, and accomplished business origination and development skills
  • 7+ years of experience in Structured Finance (including Trade Finance)
  • Significant corporate finance knowledge (Working capital cycle, cash flow forecasting, financial statement analysis, modeling etc.) 
  • High level of presentation and organizational skills to senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of mechanics, drivers and risks associated with Trade & Working Capital products
  • Understanding the competitive market and the role of technology within Global Trade Finance
  • Capability to develop relationships inside the organization to collaborate across geographical boundaries
  • In depth understanding of the front to back execution process
  • Specific trade and working capital related qualifications (preferred)
  • Knowledge of how clients manage purchase and sales activity (preferred)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP/Oracle/ Sage (preferred)
  • Additional languages (e.g., Spanish) (preferred)
  • Previous exposure to Structured Finance (Front Office) (preferred)
  • Knowledge of asset mobilization / syndication and other capital enhancing and credit risk mitigation techniques  (preferred)
