Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for an EHS Engineer at our Niles, OH location. Our passionate commitment to EHS provides the successful candidate with an excellent environment in which to work and the leadership commitment and support to deliver results.  This position is a key member of the location’s EHS team and is highly visible position in the plant and Business Unit. The position provides an excellent platform for potential future growth to the successful candidate.

Howmet Structures is a world-class producer of components that supply the commercial and defense Aerospace sectors. 

Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist with location fatality prevention efforts including helping to lead deployment and execution of key fatality prevention elements and coaching location leaders.
  • Analyze injury and incident data and assist line management in the implementation of focused injury reduction efforts. Provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction efforts.
  • Assist with the facility’s industrial hygiene program including execution of IH sampling plans, the administration of IH databases and employee exposure records, hazardous material management, ergonomics oversight and serve as the radiation protection technical resource.
  • Assist with the facility's environmental programs including execution of all environmental compliance activities and waste management activities.
  • Provide technical expertise and participate in injury/incident investigations to assist in identifying root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Coach and counsel departmental leaders in the execution of their EHS accountabilities.
  • Partner with location leadership to deliver EHS objectives.
  • Lead and assist with other EHS accountabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • At least 1 year of environmental, health or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, safety or health discipline from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of environmental, health or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
