We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Human Resources department. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a HR Generalist, Shared Services. The hours are 0700 -1600.

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist, Shared Services is responsible for providing support and services to employees across various functions within the organization. The position supports all activities relating to the following areas: policies and procedures, benefits and associated systems related to effective and efficient HR operations within the shared services environment. The Human Resources Generalist, Shared Services will support the Human Resources Manager, Shared Services with organizational-wide impact on: benefits, compensation, HR Information Systems, and overall enforcement of Company values, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Assists employees with information and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
- May assist with on-boarding process for all employees.
- Oversee the maintenance of employee records, ensuring data integrity.
- Participates in the new employee orientation for purposes of benefit orientation.
- Administer HR policies and ensure compliance with labor laws, company guidelines, and best practices.
- Interpret, assist and advise employees and managers on personnel-related issues such as leave management, termination and company procedures and policies within the specified guidelines.
- Coordinate responses to employee and applicant requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Responsible for annual enrollment, answering benefits questions, and monitoring, Workers Compensation, STD, and LTD.
- Provide support in administering employee benefit programs, including health, 401(k), and other company-provided benefits.
- Demonstrates understanding and commitment to NASSCOs mission, vision, and guiding principles
- Heavy customer service interface with employees and public
- Assist with the administration of compensation practices, completes personnel transactions and maintains associated records.
- Work with other Shared Services team members to ensure smooth HR service deliveries, addressing employee concerns and inquiries promptly.
- Liaise with Human Resources Shared Services Manager to ensure annual benefits enrollment, including all preparatory work during annual renewal and preparation and delivery of annual enrollment orientation presentations are timely, accurate and ensure employee understanding of benefit programs.
- Ensure employee understanding of benefits programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise. Handle benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefit providers, brokers, third party administrators, and employees for all benefits issues. Responsible for the processing of the Disability Plans, working with vendors on problems and issues and assisting employee regarding their claims and issues.
- Collaborate with HR team members on projects to improve efficiency.
- Work under broad direction and performs additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Regular, reliable, on-site attendance is an essential function of this role
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and three of experience OR
- Six years of relevant experience
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Working knowledge of HR concepts, practices and procedures
- Demonstrated organization and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, listen, maintain confidentiality, speak professionally, and learn process and procedures quickly
- Well rounded knowledge of Microsoft applications. Experience with PeopleSoft, Fidelity, and SuccessFactors preferred
- Must have knowledge of timekeeping policies and procedures
- Must have an excellent understanding of what an Ethics program is and the importance of having one
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management
- Knowledge of current Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations regarding FMLA, ADA and HIPAA
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, apply and explain applicable regulatory requirements
- Respond to requests and inquiries in person and over the telephone
- Ability to work under pressure, Self-starter, ability to resolve issues and research solutions
- Ability to learn, understand, and respond to internal customer needs
- Must be detailed oriented
- Ability to multitask and prioritize demands
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.
