We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Planning department. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Quality Control Planner, the hours are 7AM - 4PM w/ 1 hr lunch.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

Provides accurate work specifications and change orders in accordance with Government guidelines and standards using Work Notifications (WN),drawings and technical documents.

  1. POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has a BA/BS in a related field plus two (4) years directly related experience, or AA/AS plus four (4) years directly related experience, or eight (8) years directly related experience. Directly related experience in project management, production management preferred.

POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience)

  1. Must possess knowledge of ship repair, overhaul and modernization processes and procedures and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) philosophy.
  2. Must possess expert knowledge of 4E specifications requirements.
  3. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  4. Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve planning conflicts.
  5. Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.
  6. Must have a working Knowledge of Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Planning and Execution Modules.
  7. Should be familiar with Project Management methodologies and processes.

  1. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Planning Manager and interfaces with Trades, Production Management, Estimating, Scheduling, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, and the customer. Will be informed of priorities and allowed to schedule work as necessary to complete required tasks within guidelines provided by the Supervisor. This position has no direct reports.

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review all developed work specification conforms to 4E requirements, all current references are used, and the WS meets the requirements of the WN.
  2. Provide feedbacks to Planners on inconsistencies for WS writing improvements.
  3. Develop (prepare/write/revise), issue and distribute assigned planning documents, procedures and work items in accordance with all applicable instructions, directives and procedures.
  4. Conduct ship-checks as required.
  5. Create NMD availabilities and Work Specification Items.
  6. Integrate, review, and validate planning process with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance.
  7. Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to the government for processing.
  8. Conduct meetings to inform key personnel of planning updates.
  9. Work closely with Estimators and Schedulers to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated planning schedule.
  10. Develop and maintain professional relationships with NSSA, Port Engineers, Project Managers, Teaming Partners, and other customers to facilitate release of work, contractual issues, execution of work, and management of Condition Found Report/Request for Contract Change (CFR/RCC) processes.
  11. Insure NMD and planning module is synchronized.
  12. Insure timely processing of Work Specifications, Condition Found Reports (CFRs) and Requests for Contract Change (RCCs).

  1. ACCOUNTABILITY

Produce accurate and complete work specifications and changes in support of Availabilities and special projects.

  1. UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) and a security clearance. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.
