Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons has an opening for a Systems Security Engineering Manager 2, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Northridge, CA. The candidate selected for this position will have a dual role performing as a technical leader/contributor in the field of Systems Security Engineering (SSE) as well as a functional manager. As a manager, the successful candidate will have responsibility for supporting direct reports with staffing assignments, knowledge transfer, training, educational reimbursement, and the Workday performance management lifecycle (goal planning, quarterly reviews). The candidate will report to the Systems Engineering Director and receive assignments through communication with the AW Program Directorate in collaboration with the AW Engineering Directorate. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA. Roles and responsibilities: A successful candidate will have the qualities and essential functional expertise to: Coach and develop staff by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth. Ensure staff receive the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles. Collaborate with peer Department Managers and the Director to develop a strategy for organizational growth and retention. Take lead responsibility for departmental performance ensuring deliverables meet technical quality, cost, and schedule objectives. Develop plans to resolve SSE issues, communicate the plan, and advise Senior Leadership on progress. Technically contribute to the design, development, implementation and verification of SSE solutions into AW missile products. Apply sound engineering principles, metrics, and ensure compliance with all published processes and standards in SSE solutions. Recommend use of tools and technologies to ensure alignment to operational initiatives. Actively participate in process improvement and process corrective action boards/groups. Provide resources for proposals; participate in proposal writing as needed; develop, review, and approve Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed. Work with Engineering Management and Program Management to ensure all programs are adequately and appropriately staffed. Be accountable for managing the people, processes, and tools that support the Systems Security engineering team of ~10 engineers. Establish annual employee goals and conduct periodic performance appraisals against the goals. Manage hiring activities, including creating job requisitions, recruiting, interviewing, and making hiring decisions in a group that is in the process of expanding.
