Job Summary

Geisinger Medical Center is seeking a part time Nocturnist AP to join the Hospital Medicine team in Danville, PA. The nocturnist AP will perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, PA, is seeking a part time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. The idea candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.

Job Duties

  • Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
  • Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
  • Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.
  • Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
  • Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
  • Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
  • which the employee is qualified to perform.
  • Screening patients.
