Paid Internship - GIS Analyst

Overview:

FPM Remediations, Inc. is looking for a summer intern to join our Oneida, NY office for a period lasting from mid-May to mid-September 2024. Our paid Geographic Information System (GIS) internship provides 40 hours of on-site work per week and an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in GIS.

Primary Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the FPM GIS Manager, the GIS intern will provide office support for a variety of environmental investigation and remediation projects.

  • Update existing figures, databases, records, and GIS features.
  • Data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks
  • Generate contour and plume features using Spatial Analyst, ArcScene, and 3D Analyst.
  • Research and gather background documentation on project sites including data mining.
  • Rubber sheet and digitize features from hardcopy and Scanned figures.

Education and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled at an accredited college working towards a bachelors degree in an environmental science or engineering discipline and possess the following attributes:

  • Core curriculum that includes geology/earth science, chemistry, math, and physics
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Experience with certain platforms or software including Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); ArcGIS experience a plus.
  • Good time management
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter
  • Valid United States drivers license
