Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Sr Staff Model Based Test & Evaluation Lead to join our team of qualified diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

This role will lead the transformation of the test and evaluation enterprise across the NGAS sector into one that maximizes the use of Modeling and Simulation, integrates all aspects of Model Based Systems Engineering, and drives the enterprise to align with the Model Based Acquisition.

The selected candidate will work with programs to integrate Mission Scenario, Interface Definition, Design, Software, T&E, and Sustainment with a comprehensive physics-based model set that aligns with our customer’s Total Digital Transformation. 

He/She/They will be responsible for:

  • The instantiation of Model Based Engineering (MBE) principles into T&E on all Air programs.  This will require bringing thought leadership, creativity, and innovation, along with detailed MBSE knowledge, into the right side of the systems engineering “V”, to bring speed and agility to the T&E portion of program execution.

  • Responsible for leading all cross-Directorate and cross-program MBSE activities for the T&E organization.

  • Ensuring Programs integrate the System Model with government- provided Threat Models and Mission Modeling (Sea and Air) to enable capabilities-based testing as well as specification verification.

  • Train, coach and mentor others within the enterprise.

  • Must have strong technical and leadership skills, excellent oral and written communications.

This position will report to the Test & Evaluation Director and work directly with the Palmdale Vice President of Engineering on all Sector MBSE initiatives.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.  Candidate must be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers within Northrop Grumman and the Air Force and Navy.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in a STEM discipline AND 14 Years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree of Science in a STEM discipline AND 12 Years of relevant experience; 9 Years with PhD.

  • 8 years of Model Based Systems Engineering experience

  • 5 years of team leadership; demonstrated history as a proven leader

  • Experience applying human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine and human-computer systems and products

  • An active in-scope DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance

  • The ability to obtain program access within a reasonable timeframe

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Published or presented papers on MBSE

  • Active in SEAG and MBSE forums

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Active, In scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance

  • Extensive Test and Evaluation background in one or more areas: Flight Test; System Integration Laboratory Testing; Specialty Test such as Wind Tunnel Test or Structural Test; Cyber Test or Software Test

Salary Range: $183,100 - $274,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
