Northrop Grumman is seeking a Tool Engineer.  This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems Sector in Palmdale, CA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Production Engineering & Operations (PE&O) organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct support for manufacturing engineering and production to provide quick real-time solutions and validate proper use of Tooling Systems
  • Coordination of design and fabrication requirements for tools, fixtures and tooling systems with customers, suppliers both internal and external
  • Coordinate/develop & execute Factory acceptance Test Plans for Tooling Systems
  • Conduct root cause failure investigations and implement associated corrective actions
  • Assist Product Development Team with new product designs to ensure manufacturability, validate process/technology.
  • Developing manufacturing processes, plans, and procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment in support of our process work instructions and visual aids of our shop planning process and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Managing all phases of project: design, document, fabricate, assemble, and validate

Basic Qualifications for a Tool Engineer (T02):

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years OR Master’s degree with 0 years of Tool engineering experience and/or related experience.
  • Majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.
  • Ability to work a swing shift, 12:00 pm to 10:30 pm 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday)

Preferred Qualifications for Tool Engineer:

  • Ability to understand and interpret program/project business needs and develop tooling concept and manufacturing process specifications, plans and processes that support those requirements.
  • 2 years of directly related tooling engineering experience.
  • Experience using CATIA and/or NX 7 (or higher)
  • 2 years of experience with GD&T

Pay Range

  • Tool Engineer: 79,300- 118,900
Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
