Machine Operator II Team Lead at Ditch Witch:

This employee will lead a focused work group in their assigned work area.  As a direct employee, he or she will work closely with team members helping to provide cross-training and encourage continuous improvement. This employee will set the example for productivity, quality of work and be supportive of the Lead and Section Leader. This employee must maintain a positive attitude and be professional in appearance, dress and action. This employee will also perform other duties as assigned. The team leader reports directly to the Section Leader.

What Will You Do? 

  •  Effectively leads a focused work group from the front as a working leader.

  • Coordinates standardized work and gap work.

  • Performs job instruction training.

  • Manages abnormalities from standard through quick fixes and elevates recurring.

  • Back-fills in case of team member’s absence.

  • Highlights and pursues Continuous Improvement opportunities.

  • Maintains visibility of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Ensures safe practices are followed.

  • Provides technical assistance to team.

  • Enthusiastically supports the meaningful targets provided daily by the Lead and Section Leader for what team members do in their daily work.

  • Understand job documentation related to specific work area with the ability to interpret to other team members.

  • Helps provide the investigation and implementation of approved ideas from team members.

  • Ensures that standard work has been created for their area.

  • Provides cross-training for team members to ensure that there is flexibility in the work area.

  • Through behavior and communication, maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, leads, section leader and co-workers.

  • Sets the example in safety, productivity and quality of work.

  • Gives input on process, Bill of Materials (BOM) structure and new product introduction.

  • Be knowledgeable with SAP and be able to check locations of inventory, routing of parts as well as be able to maintain production records.

 

What Will You Need?  

  • Have an exemplary work record, including indications of strong leadership skills, self-motivation, high productivity, reliable attendance, attention to product reliability, desire and ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.

  • Must be familiar with or have the ability to learn the standard work performed in the assigned work area to back-fill in team member absence.

  • Be very well cross-trained and sets the example in safe work habits.

  • Have appropriate basic math skills. This includes the ability to understand written instructions and be able to maintain production records.

  • Exhibit enthusiasm and support for continuous improvement at Ditch Witch.

  • Exhibit leadership competency in a team environment.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

  • Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 50 pounds

Work Environment: 

  • Shop environment. The shop environment includes: variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt; Physical hazards such as powered vehicle and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, and moving machinery, solvents, coolant, pressurized gases, various acids & caustics, cleaners, and metals.

  • A variable work schedule, with hours that vary according to the needs of the job. During emergencies or critical deadlines, this employee must work until the job is finished.

  • Rapidly changing work loads and priorities, multiple requests from numerous individuals.
