Our client in Information Services and Resources is seeking a Librarian to join their team part time. The ideal candidate will have communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution which will align successfully in the organization.

 

Job Title: Librarian

Location: Phelps, KY

Pay Range: $10-$12

 

What’s the Job?

  • Cataloging, classifying, and organizing library resources (books, journals, digital materials, etc.) using standardized systems like Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress Classification.
  • Maintaining and updating library databases and managing information retrieval systems. 
  • Assisting library patrons in locating information and conducting research across a variety of media, including books, databases, and digital resources.
  • Assisting library patrons in checking out and returning materials.
  • Ensuring that library facilities are clean, organized, and conducive to studying and research.
  • Building relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote library services.
  • Creating and enforcing library policies related to the circulation of materials, behavior in the library, and the use of library resources. 
  • Ensuring the proper care and preservation of rare, fragile, or valuable materials, including archives, manuscripts, and historical documents.

 

What’s Needed?

  • Understanding various classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal System, Library of Congress Classification) and cataloging procedures is essential for organizing and managing library materials.
  • Familiarity with digital resources, databases, library management software, and emerging technologies (e.g., digital libraries, e-books) is critical.
  • A strong focus on providing assistance to library users, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience. 
  • Secondary education is preferred, but not required.
