Job Overview
Managers work with the Santaland Operations Manager to prepare the Macy鈥檚 Santaland attraction for seasonal operation. Once the attraction is open to the public, managers oversee the day-to-day operation and customer experience of Macy鈥檚 Santaland on behalf of the Branded Entertainment group.
Essential Functions
路 Preparing Santaland attraction and back of house areas for holiday season. Duties may include: Designing, propping, and/or decorating holiday tableaus, e.g. laying snow, stringing lights, cleaning/dusting etc.
路 Designing and implementing elf trainings
路 Daily scheduling and staff management of elves
路 Manage customer flow and experience throughout the Santaland attraction
路 Lead reservation experience
路 Interface with guests and address special needs and/or concerns
路 Facility maintenance of attraction and BOH areas
路 Maintaining highest levels of customer service throughout the operation
路 Demonstrated experience in responsibly de-escalating and managing through employee relations issues, as well as customer disputes and/or concerns.
路 Ability to manage through challenges with the utmost discretion, and an understanding of legal and ethical obligations to colleagues and the company.
路 Ensure safety guidelines are being adhered to at Santaland and on location.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education/Experience:
路 Bachelor鈥檚 degree preferred
路 Experience with employee relations preferred
路 Experience leading teams of varying size
路 Operations experience (preferably in entertainment, theater, or production, but not required)
路 Event execution and/or management experience
路 Experience managing schedules and timelines
路 Experience training others in the skills required for their positions
路 Crowd control experience
Communication Skills:
路 Knowledge of a second language helpful but not required
路 Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
路 Must be able to stay calm under pressure and problem solve in a dynamic environment
Mathematical Skills:
路 Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Reasoning Ability:
路 Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
路 Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment
路 Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand values
Physical Demands:
路 Ability to lift at minimum 40 pounds
路 Heavy lifting and getting dirty should be expected in this position.
Other Skills:
路 Customer service experience
路 Basic computer skills
路 Knowledge of lighting and sound systems preferred
路 Experience creating/implementing training curriculum preferred
Work Hours:
路 As part of the seasonal schedule, all Santaland Managers are expected to work on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, as well as all weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
