Job Description
DUTIES: Provide technical leadership in writing and editing automated test code that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software, in accordance with specifications and technical requirements; write scripts and build Firebolt Certification applications and automation framework using JavaScript; test software using regression testing, exploratory testing, acceptance testing, and performance testing; use JIRA and Octane to manage and report on software testing; develop test architecture, strategies, and automation frameworks; build CI/CD utilities using Shell scripting; perform CI/CD using Jenkins, Concourse, and Github; develop the Firebolt SDK using Typescript; work within Unix and Linux operating systems; perform contract testing using PACT; maintain the automation codebase in a version control system, including GIT or SVN; execute automated test scripts and evaluate results; analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order; identify viable test strategies in order to support testing product functionality; create automated testing documentation, including test plans and test summary reports; validate product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base; write code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency; develop and maintain code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages; partner with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers. Position is eligible for 100% remote work.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and seven (7) years of experience writing test automation scripts; performing regression testing, exploratory testing, acceptance testing, and performance testing; working with test case and defect management tools, including JIRA, Octane, or any other related test case and defect management tool; creating and maintaining test plans, test suites, and test cases; developing test architecture, strategies, and automation frameworks; of which five (5) years include designing and building applications and automation frameworks using JavaScript or Java; performing data- and behavior-driven testing; writing test automation scripts using Cypress or Selenium, and Cucumber; building CI/CD utilities using Shell scripting; performing CI/CD using Jenkins, Concourse, or Github; of which three (3) years include working within Unix and Linux operating systems; and using AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, and S3.
