Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) has an immediate opportunity for a Manager, Electrical Engineering 2 supporting the Mission Systems organization. This is a dual-role position encompassing technical competency, and people leadership. This position is in Apopka, FL. The successful candidate will lead a team of 8-10 Electrical Engineers as direct reports. The position requires a high level of competency in Electrical Engineering as 75% of their time will be allocated to technical responsibilities as a direct contributor. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, leadership, and technical capabilities. They must be a self-starter, able to efficiently operate in a team environment, and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The candidate will work closely with other developers, and multiple engineering disciplines. What you’ll get to do: Lead and develop an Electrical Engineering team of approximately 8-10 people. Evaluate resource loading inputs to manage department cost and schedule performance. Contribute across multiple programs as principal-level Electrical Engineer Roles & Responsibilities: Technical Leadership • Provide technical oversight for engineering activities performed by the electrical team. Candidate will lead a team that implements many technologies and needs diverse engineering experiences. • Candidate will be a thought leader of systems thinking and hardware engineering for both their team and the organization. • Perform as a senior/principal electrical engineer to support programs and new business efforts. These tasks will include hardware development plans, hardware requirements development, hardware design, and hardware integration and test strategies. Hardware sub-disciplines include circuit card design, firmware (VHDL) design, mechanical design and mechanical analysis, including the design and integration of these sub-assemblies into systems and subsystems. • Responsible for WBS elements assigned to the Electrical Engineering team. • Expected to oversee assigned elements using Earned Value Management System (EVMS). • Engage and collaborate with program and functional organizations to obtain, understand, and interpret program resource needs to effectively meet program milestones. • Manage and maintain the day-to-day interfaces and communications between Program Management, Engineering Functionals, Manufacturing, and Global Supply Chain. Resolve issues spanning across Hardware Engineering functional area. • Assess, track, and mitigate cost and schedule risk supported by quantitative and predictive analyses. • Facilitate internal meetings to support design, production, and problem resolution. • Utilize fundamental engineering principles to facilitate production and design changes within the project team that result in superior products within the program budget. People Leadership: Lead the Electrical Engineering team that supports an exciting and diverse portfolio of programs Provide technical oversight and mentorship to staff to ensure engineering projects in portfolio meet performance objectives Responsible for direct management of staff and providing direction to the staff Ensure adherence, update, and maintain department procedures Support organizational engineering initiatives Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related STEM field, with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience; OR 6 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a STEM field Proficiency in one or more of the following: FPGA design, AC/DC circuit design, power design, mixed-signal design, circuit simulation and test, CCA design and analysis, and EMI/EMC design Demonstrated People/Team Leadership skills Experience with engineering lifecycle such as: specifications, architecture, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance. Experience designing electrical hardware for ruggedized military systems. Experience with version control and collaboration tools Experience applying systems thinking and systems engineering best practices to engineering development programs. Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security clearance Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field Experience working with U.S. Military programs Experience with configuration management policies and practices Proficient in reading technical/engineering drawings or document Outstanding written and verbal communications skills Current Secret Clearance
