Job Purpose

The Prototype Planning Group Leader (GL) – Budget/Global Purchasing is responsible for the oversite of 1) a group of buyers and planners that support 4MOC development activity and 2) a resource management group tasked with creating, managing, and reporting prototype parts budgets for development projects and department level manpower and indirect budgets. Is the subject matter expert regarding short-term (1-2 years) and long-term (3-5 years) resource forecasts, collaborating with development team leadership and other management to ensure accuracy and completeness. GL is responsible for the oversight of cost prototype part and tooling cost evaluation and proper positioning of prototype development contracts in the support of ADC development activity. The GL guides the staff and procedural development through the cost and contract assessment consistent with the values and best interest of HDMA.

Key Accountabilities

  • Mentor and train associates within the group on problem-solving, creation of procedures, and countermeasure implementation while fostering development.
  • Provide daily group associate operation direction. Follow HDMA and Honda philosophic protocols coaching, counseling, and leading staff. Direct daily resource application prioritization to ensuring completion of critical outputs.
  • Ensure staff compliance with required training, safety protocols, HDMA associate policies, ensuring proper recording of working hours including out of office and overtime reporting.
  • Lead weekly meetings regarding 4MOC parts orders – ensure group preparedness for weekly meeting with 4MOC procurement leadership
  • Create and manage current ki and long-term prototype part budgets for HDMA development models. Manages forecasting tool for prototype part budgets, adapting to changes in market conditions, line-up variations, and new technologies. Manage contracts issued by group to ensure profitability and budget adherence.
  • Correlate with development team leadership regarding prototype parts budgets for presentation and evaluation at Quantity Authorizations.
  • Provide written, verbal and presentation document to report group, unit, department, and overall organizational performance measuring the effectiveness of strategic directives and the current state of key performance indicators. Identify issues of significance and escalating time sensitive issues to management.
  • Liaison to IS for creation of digital dashboards for evaluating workload, project status, and overall department KPI creation and maintenance.

Workstyle

Hybrid: At least 3 days per workweek at the Raymond, OH office location.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Education: An undergraduate of graduate level degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or Other Related Field, or equivalent experience

Other must have qualifying skills:

8 or more years of related demonstrable experience covering –
▪ Contracts (administration and reviewing) and Purchasing, preferably in the automotive and/or commercial aviation sector.
▪ Prior experience in managing teams purchasing of parts, track KPIs across multiple team
▪ Reviewing budgets (preferably US$ 15M or more)
