Position Summary:

The National Manager – MHE will develop a plan to centralize the management of Penske Logistics Material Handling Equipment for all DCM and DCC operations. The position will establish a best-in-class MHE fleet program that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and scalability through the integration of innovative safety features and technology through fostering both strategic and tactical OEM partnerships. The candidate will be an inherent subject matter expert with a demonstrated history in standardizing vehicle specifications, purchase, maintenance, and warranty processes for equipment, machinery, vehicles, and other devices used in our DCM and DCC locations. This role will create, manage, control inventory and purchasing procedures as well as implementing and managing maintenance programs. The National Manager -MHE will also support the Company efforts in sustainability and decarbonization strategies regarding material handling equipment

This position will support the Day Shift, Monday to Friday

Major Responsibilities:

Standardization

  • Develop standard vehicle specifications for all classes of MHE.
  • Develop standard process for facility fleet audits and inspections.
  • Conduct routine assessments and audits of processes and facilities to ensure compliance.
  • Identify and create an optimal equipment maintenance program(s).

Operational Support

  • Manage equipment life cycle (procurement to disposal) of all Material Handling Equipment for Penske Logistics (DCM and DCC) via PL Equipment Database currently in pilot.
  • Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Manages fleet of 2100 MHE assets valued at $30.0M and annual maintenance spend of $9M($4.5M PL owned assets/$4.5M customer owned assets).
  • Liaise with all levels of the organization from local management to senior leadership providing strategic guidance on asset strategy; equipment life-cycle management; maintenance sourcing; equipment budgeting; utilization; supplier management.
  • Manage deployment of new equipment, and redeployment of existing equipment.
  • Work closely with Product Line Team to develop successful, comprehensive, equipment strategies for business renewals, growth, and new customer pursuits.
  • Keep detailed records on procurement activity, lease data, materials quantity, maintenance spend, specifications.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate new and emerging technologies for applicability, effectiveness, and suitability.
  • Manage implementation where feasible of these technologies or implement into standards.
  • Contributes to opportunities for cost savings that drive growth in pretax through strategic thinking.
  • Ultimately expand Penske’s standardized program to PL operated/customer owned MHE.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business Management required

• Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) certification preferred

• 3 years Fleet Maintenance Experience required with experience leading teams and managing processes required

• Strong understanding of fleet maintenance

• PTL Maintenance Experience preferred

• Understanding of supply chain principles, sourcing, and contracting

• Finance knowledge - intermediate

• Project managment - intermediate

• Computer skills (Microsoft) - advanced

• Advanced Excel proficiency

• Advanced fleet/equipment knowledge

• Strong communication and organization skills

• Excellent analytical skills

• Team building and collaboration skills

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
