Manpower is looking for the best talent in Redford, MI for a Controls Engineer position.

Shift: Monday - Friday. 11:00pm - 7:00am
Payrate: $50/hr - $58/hr

Position Summary:

As a Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing the electrical controls for our HDE Machining Operations, encompassing Blocks, Connecting Rods, Heads, Liners, and Turbo Machining & Assembly Operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, modify, and support PLC, CNC, HMI, and Robot controls.
  • Support device-level networks and servo/variable frequency drive systems.
  • Implement and maintain machining monitoring systems, integrating with higher-level systems.
  • Apply controls technology to enhance new and existing processes for optimal machining solutions.
  • Specify and assist with control designs for new machining equipment procurement.
  • Provide technical support to Skilled Trades, Supervisors, and Process Engineers in diagnosing and repairing CNC and Assembly Machining Operations.
  • Assist in utilizing technical drawings and OEM documentation for troubleshooting and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent functional working experience of 8 years.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing equipment hardware and software design practices & standards (PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, vision systems, etc.).
  • Proficient with PC hardware and commercially available software.
  • Knowledge of networks, database operations, electrical codes, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Siemens Step 7 PLCs / TIA Portal, Siemens 840D NC Programming, and Siemens VFDs and servos.
  • Background in machining operations, particularly with Siemens equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Fanuc robots, Cognex vision control systems, and Trumpf laser systems.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, servos, and software.
  • Understanding of fluid systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, coolant, and lubrication).
  • Experience with metal cutting, press force monitoring, part marking, fastening, washing, and filter manufacturing & machining processes.
